Feb. 12 (Bloomberg) -- The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) UK announced on its website on Friday the withdrawal of its program aimed at funding conservation efforts through NFT sales. The organization said, "NFT is a highly controversial issue and we have a lot to learn about this new market, which is why we will now fully assess the impact of this trial and think about how we can best continue to innovate to engage our supporters." The NFTs, which were originally scheduled for release on February 3, are said to represent 13 endangered animal species such as the giant panda, Galapagos penguin and gorilla. The series includes approximately 7,900 NFTs, corresponding to the number of actual living members of each species in the wild. (The Block)
